[...] STOP PRESS! Paul Arden-Griffith, known to one and all as “Pag“, will be appearing in London’s West End, opening at the Trafalgar Studios (formerly the Whitehall Theatre) on April 25th. He has won a prestigious contract to join the Pocket Orchestra in a brand new production - The Reduced History of Classical Music. Pag says “Pocket Orchestra is a company of extremely versatile performers, all of whom play instruments; sing; dance and act. I play keyboards and percussion in addition to singing tenor, and other members of the cast play strings, woodwind and brass. The cast includes Sylvester McCoy - one of Dr. Who’s several incarnations - and the show itself is an irreverent and hysterically funny trawl through the development of classical music: from the bangs, scrapes and farts of the ancient civilizations to the bangs, scrapes and farts of today’s classical outpourings, not neglecting the Baroque, Classical and Romantic repertoire along the way!” [...]

Hi there, Kenneth and Susan. Paul Arden-Griffith (Pag) here. How very nice to hear from you. May I, on behalf of Stephen, Trevor, our webmaster - Ben - and myself send you greetings from England and from “Make It So”.

How amazing that you too have created a “Pocket Opera”. As you say, it must just be time for something like this. However, I thought I should put your mind at rest and tell you that, having visited your website and seen your script, it is clear that these two shows are in no way alike. Here in the U.K. “The Reduced History of Classical Music” is, as yet, only a working title. There is a very talented company here called “The Reduced Shakespeare Company”. They present constantly up-dated versions of the complete works of Shakespeare in only a few minutes at a time, and have, I believe, many other similarly compacted offerings in their repertoire. They are hysterically funny, but POCKET OPERA is a completely different enterprise, so a new title for our show will no doubt be chosen soon, to avoid confusing the British public! I don’t think there is any fear of us treading on each others’ toes!

Hello all. Just FYI, my name is Kenneth LaFave and I, with my wife Susan, last year wrote a play called “A Reduced History of Classical Music.” The piece was workshopped in January in Scottsdale, Ariz., and an audio recording of the workshop is now making its way to various producers.
