It has been an exciting and busy summer for the Make It So team.

Stephen and Trevor staged a special limited run of ‘Oliver’ at The Madinat Theatre, Dubai with kind permission from the Mackintosh Management. The production was directed by Stephen Holroyd with Trevor Nicholls taking on the role of Mr Brownlow. The production was produced by Tread The Boards.

PAG resumed his work in the USA with Stage door Manor with a series of successful productions which he directed including ‘Guys & Dolls’ and Ken Hill’s classic ‘Phantom Of The Opera’ which was the inspiration for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit show which Pag originally played.

Trevor and Ben went onto stage a brand new comic super hero ‘Ajaaj’ for The Watani Group, based on their popular series of books. This technical show was a first for the U.A.E. in that it brought local actors together working with a British production team. The production was directed by Trevor Nicholls and was assisted by Benjamin Lee who also technically put the sound and video for for the epic adventure together. This ongoing production is expected to tour the whole of the U.A.E. next year.

The coming year expects to bring more exciting productions in the UK and overseas.

After much success with The Adventures of Ali Baba, the next instalment of 1001 Nights was going to be quite a challenge.

The writers of Sindbad have once again managed to bring the audiences of Dubai magic and wonder of a spectacular show which included; the mystery of the Egyptian desert, the spectacle of an Asian circus, A ship on stage, a magical flying carpet chase through the streets of Dubai, two heroes, two villains, haunting images on stage and a climatic battle against good and evil.

This story was completely original and tailor made for Dubai audiences, but never ignored the legacy which Sindbad brings to his adventures.

The Adventures of Sindbad finished its run at The Centrepoint Theatre, Dubai and Emirates Palace Theatre, Abu Dhabi. The production which was produced by The Great Entertainment Company and Make It So played to full houses also selling out at the Emirates Palace Theatre on the final show of the production.

The response from both the children and adult audiences was outstanding.

The production was directed by Stephen Holroyd, written by Trevor Nicholls and Stephen Holroyd and technically managed by Benjamin Lee. A big thank-you would also like to be extended to Helen Dale (another one of Make It So’s intrepid members) who put so much effort into co-ordination of the production between the UK and Dubai.

Due to the success of this production there are plans for a second outing this year in the autumn where it will tour further the Middle East regions, followed by a sequel early next year. More concrete details to follow at a later date.

The production boasted a UK West End cast of seven actors together with a local dance company of talented young performers from the Step by Step dance school

Make It So would like to thank everybody involved in the production for their outstanding contributions and for making The Adventures of Sindbad a great success.

Photographs are due to follow shortly in the Media section of the website.
